Billingsley Genealogy

While I was researching information on the internet about dad's Army Air Corp group I found a little more information about two other Billingsley relatives. John Billingsley and Edminston Billingsley.

Here is what we already know about John Billingsley contained in the Billingsley family genealogy history booklet aunt Laverne and cousin JoAnn updated in 2000. John was born in 1612 and was the oldest son of Francis and Bridgett Billingsley eleven children. He immigrated to Calvert County Maryland about 1649 from Holland, Netherlands with his brothers Francis and James. We are related to Francis. All these people are fifth generation family.

Now, according to a website I found there is land with a house in Maryland that once belonged to a Major John Billingsley. The house and land was sold several times but still exists today. Here is what we already know about Edminston Billingsley contained in the same history booklet my aunt and cousin prepared. Edminston was born in 1840 in Arkansas and was the fifth child of eight to Christopher and Lavesta Ann Brown. Edminston and his three brothers (Mark, Grandville, Burrow) all served in the Confederate Army, all enlisting at Alvarado, Texas. They enlisted in Company F, 20th Texas Cavalry, under Captain Bruce and were attached to the Johnson Battalion until the close of the war. These people are thirteenth generation family.

The interesting thing here is there is evidence on the web that supports Edminston and his brothers participation in the Confederate Army. To view the website click here.
