B-17G tail number 44-83514, Sentimental Journey, visited Bethalto airport April 2007. When I read in the newspaper that it was going to be in the area I made sure wasn't going to miss it. The following pictures are just a few of what I took while touring through this magnificent plane. Sentimental Journey is flown and maintained by the Arizona Commemorative Air Force. The insignia (black triangle with a white letter U) painted on the tail fin of the plane is from the 457th Bomb Group of which my dad was part of in WWII. Although this tail number was never assigned to the 457th the Commemorative AF pays tribute to this bomb group.
