10k Volksmarch around Mascoutah

I went Volksmarching today with members of the Illinois Trekkers Volkssport Club. I participated in a 10k walk today around the city of Mascoutah, Illinois. My first march was in 1990. I go on Volksmarch walks whenever and where ever I have had the opportunity. It's a lot of fun and you meet lots of people every time you go. The events are free but in order to document the walk there is a fee of $3.00 and if you want the pin or patch that they offer at each walk those are $3.00 as well. The last time I went on a Volksmarch was while I was stationed at Offutt. So, it was good to get out and enjoy a full day outside. I was talking to a few walkers at a check point and told them of the time I took a wrong turn while walking in Germany in '96 and ended up walking 40k instead of 20k. I got credit for walking it so I was glad for that! If anyone is interested in going with me next time give me a call or reply to this blog. I plan on going again in July. This time it's being held in Belleville, Illinois.

Hi there cousin! How are you? Looks like you are enjoying retirement! Mom asks about you often. If you get a chance, you should drop her a line. She'd love to hear from you.
